The Eyes of the Inca The Inca Empire in South America was one of the Western Hemisphere's greatest, richest and most advanced civilizations before the coming of the Spaniards in the 1400's. Extending throughout much of the western part of South America, the Incas -- so named after the emperor of the land, the Inca -- were a highly developed empire with science, art, transportation and cities impressive in what they offered for the time. High in the Andes Mountain range, the Incas discovered deposits of rich blue stone -- the bluest and most exclusive of all granite and marble-composites -- and would mine by hand chunks of the stone for use in jewelry, art, religious artifacts and for the royal court. One of these deposits was discovered late last century in caves now called the Eyes of the Inca because of the facial appearance of the cliff front where the Inca stone tools were discovered beneath a surface of outcropping of pure, semi-precious Sodalite. Based on these historic caves, a small, exclusive production of Sodalite was started by Andean craftsmen interested in sharing the beauty of what the Incas found so attractive with the modern world at large. From the rich history of the mystical Incan culture has evolved a view in the minds of some that this stone even has special spiritual characteristics. Prized by some as a meditative stone, Sodalite is said to impart the properties of grounding with an energy that is quiet, calm and deep. Special properties or not, from the Eyes of the Inca to you, Blue INCA has developed its exclusive products of Imperial Inca, Inca Spirits, Inca Skies, Inca Rivers and Inca Galaxy that bring the undeniable mystical beauty of the Inca's Andes to you. By design, Blue INCA's marble and granite like products allow for decorating in contrasting and complementary blue stone. |
